The 2016 Robert Burns World Federation AGM & Conference was held at Peebles Hydro, Peebles on 9th- 11th September 2016. This year we had almost 140 delegates in attendance.
Friday evening’s dinner was informal with several delegates providing the evening’s entertainment along with folk band Luath which was enjoyed by all in attendance.
President Peter welcomed a large number of delegates to the AGM on Saturday morning. Overseas guests were introduced and received a warm welcome.
This was a weekend with many highlights including lunch with prominent Lanarkshire business men John Chapman and Boyd Tunnock, having been awarded Honorary President medals at the AGM.
The AGM ended with the presentation of Life Membership to Federation stalwart Joe McGint, who couldn't resist finishing the AGM with a song.
On Saturday afternoon, Rab Wilson presented a seminar for the delegates.
Chains of office were exchanged on Saturday evening with Bobby Kane receiving his Presidential Chain of Office from Peter Hughes before he presented Peter with his Past President’s Medal.
Before dinner, grace was delivered by Conference Convenor, Jim Gibson.

After dinner and speeches, the delegates were then invited to take the floor, accompanied by the Pentlands Ceilidh Band. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought to a close a very successful conference.
Delegates were invited to Sunday Morning Worship where President Bobby Kane, Immediate Past President Peter Hughes and Rev David Ness contributed to the order of service.
