E.D.B.C.A. PRIMARY SCHOOLS BURNS FESTIVAL
21st February 2015 - Secretaries Report
On the 21st of February 2015 Edinburgh and District Burns Clubs Association held their Annual Primary Schools Burns Festival within Tynecastle High School, 1 McLeod Street, Edinburgh. EH11. The venue was the same as last year, but the quality of the response from the Schools was much improved, with entrants taking part from 13 Schools. This success may be due to writing directly to the schools. Several of the entrants taking part in more than one discipline.
The competition was split into three parts, Primary 4/5 and 6/7 Verse, Primary 4/5 and 6/7 Singing and Primary 4/5 and 6/7 Musical Instruments.
Each discipline had its own adjudicator.
The winners in first and second place in each group have the opportunity to compete in the National Finals. We were very pleased that Mrs Isa Hanley, a Director of the Robert Burns World Federation, was on hand to present the prizes to the winners. The winners in the three disciplines were
For Verse, primary 4/5 Aimee Ross, and primary 6/7 Gabriella Cremona.
For Singing, primary 4/5 Maya Balyaeva, and primary 6/7 Adhi Chowdhury.
For Instrumentals, primary 4/5 Aimee Ross, and primary 6/7 Kuhyun Kang.
The overall Winners were:

Singing - Adhi Chowdhury
Instrumental - Kuhyun Kang
The day was judged an overall success and the venue provided the space and facilities as well as parking for cars.
