Received this lovely poem via my email system recently - I hope you enjoy it too!  John is obviously a real talent when it comes to poetry.

TO A SEAGULL – by John Kean (aged 9) and Dad

AH SAT ATOP THE FORTH ROAD BRIG
LOOKING OOT TAE SEA
WHEN A SCOTTISH SEAGULL SAW ME THERE
AN’ HE SAID THESE WORDS TAE ME

‘HULLO JOCK, HOW’S IT GAUN?
WHIT YE DAEIN’ HERE?
AH FLEW ACROSS FAE THE OTHER BRIG
TAE SAY HAPPY NEW YEAR’

‘AH’VE JUST CLIMBED UP WEE SEAGULL MATE
TAE WATCH BOATS OAN THE SEA
BUT NOO AM GONNI DIVE RICHT IN
AN’ CATCH A FISH FUR TEA’

‘OK’ HE SAID ‘I’LL SEE YI LATER’
AN’ THEN HE GOES AN’ TURNS
‘US SCOTTISH FOLK MUST DAE WAN THING
REMEMBER RABBIE BURNS!’
